How To Receive The Perfect Rug For Your Space!

A common question from my clients is: What kind of rug would you recommend? What design and size is right for our space and lifestyle? Indeed, it can be confusing deciding on the right design, color, and size.

When designing a rug, I always seek to complement the style and character of the home space. Is it modern or traditional? Colorful or monochromatic? The rug doesn't need to match everything—however it must work fluidly with the color tones and textures of the room's furnishings.

Along with design and color, texture is of great importance! Firstly, we need to think about where the rug will be located. For busy family rooms and kids' rooms, a rug tufted in a low pile is the most practical choice! A low pile rug is soft and cozy to sit on when watching TV. At the same time, the low pile allows the kids to play and build "Lego" on the rug.

When designing a rug for your master bedroom I don’t think practical—I think style and uniqueness. Warmth and softness! Perhaps a romantic design? Or a shaggy, high-pile rug with a unique shape?

As we decide on a rug design for your living room, we will place emphasis on 'style' and 'uniqueness' without neglecting the 'practical'. There are so many creative options available to us: As one example, we might use differing textures—of high/low pile plus a loop pile—in the most elegant manner, to add extra 'oomph' to the rug design. No need for multiple colors here, one or two are more than enough. The golden rule is: keep it elegant!

One hears a lot of "rules" about how large a rug should be and how it ought to be laid out in the room. No! Every space has its unique aura and needs; therefore we will craft a rug that FEELS perfectly right. As in every art, rules should be our servants, not our masters. Last but certainly not least, it is important to choose a rug made of good, long-lasting materials. After all, a rug is an investment and should remain impressive for years! Wool is in my opinion the best choice.

So, yes! There are a lot of things to consider when seeking the perfect rug for your space. A rug that you will fall in love with! An exquisite, one-of-a-kind rug that matches your home and personality! In order to achieve this, you cannot settle for a mass produced ready-made design.
